I have a sneaking suspicion that 9200's that have been already swapped will show up as not being able to transfer to another account BUT and this is a big BUT if you have one that hasn't been swapped yet and you get a CSR who doesn't know they they aren't suppose to add them, they will be able to add it because it hasn't been swapped but lets say you try and add a 9200 that has been ALREADY swapped you will not be able to cause the computer on there end will refuse it because it was already swapped out, I suspect this is why one of my friends was able to add it via chat without issue as it wasn't swapped (I saw that chat when he did it, and I also saw the 9200 come to life with his subscribed channels)

I had a 3100, a 5800 and a 5900 in the house. Thinking of going HD. Question, if I get a HD receiver, am I allowed to sell the 3100 or the 5800. There are quite a few for sale (at decent prices) on certain famous auction sites. Not sure if Bev allows that anymore.

I'm guessing that references someone who is no longer with BTV and has a 9200 lying around. Then there may be a slight chance of activation with an uninformed CSR (by buyer or seller). As a buyer, I would not take that risk.
If someone is still with BTV, then they should swap their 9200 for a 9242/1 obviously, even if they wish to sell.
I therefore see the discussion of activating 9200s as 99.99% dead.

Well when I originally was with my friend who was going to try and add the 9200 (on Dec 2nd/2011) I thought in my mind that he was for sure done for and that it wouldn't happen, but when I saw his subscribed channels come up I was in shock that it worked. I still stand that this is certainly not recommend to attempt but maybe worth a shot as you said to someone who has one laying around, but if you just dropped some money on a 9200 its also worth a shot but don't be surprised if you told no multiple times, may have to call or chat dozen or so times if not more, for my friend it was only a matter of one chat and he was off to the races. But I still do not recommend buying a 9200 or 6100 used now as your most likely screwed!
So...I was actually trying to sell a number of receivers online today. We are moving back to Toronto and switching to Fibe. I was selling two 9200's and three 6100's. I had NO IDEA about the swap program. I called Bell this AM and explained my situation and they assured me that any potential buyer that was trying to activate ny receivers would have no problem. So I deactivated a couple of my receivers. To make a long story longer...when a potential buyer checked out my RO# with Bell they were told that they couldn't activate my receiver. I called back Bell asking WTF...and sure enough they start to explain the swap program. In the end..they are swaping my receivers...in 3 to 5 business days..at which time I will activate them...and then deactivate them and sell them. And apparently I will also have to do this we my 6100's...correct?

I may purchase used 6100 HD and replace my old 2700 with it. I really don't need HD service yet but just want the newer receiver.

Stay far away from the 6100.
Bell is no longer activating 6100 and 9200 model receivers because they will no longer be able to receive HD signals and are being replaced with 6131 and 9241 models. Chances are the receiver you are thinking of buying has already been replaced with a 6131. If you have already bought it, try to get your money back, or you may have just bought a paper weight.

I have switched to Telus from Bell 3 month ago, but I am still paying them every month so I could receive 9242 and sell it. Finally I got it yesterday!
Now what shall I do to sell my old 9200 and new 9242?
1. Shall I call Bell to activate 9242 at all or just keep it unpacked in the box?
2. Shall I call Bell to deactivate 9200 before the sell?
I guess I have to do either #1 or #2 before:
Calling Bell and asking to terminate my contract in 30 days?

The 9200 cannot be sold to use with Bell again - only as an OTA PVR if the satellite feed is connected. So it is worth about $50. You can sell the 9242 for about $450 - $500 or so.

I sold my 6131 without activating it, plus it also showed as a 1 year warranty on the purchaser's account, but who knows what may happen tomorrow!

Well you can try but if they ask for Software Versions and Bootstrap Id #, you will struggle.

No you should be fine.
Just ask Bell to add a note on your account that you will be selling the Receiver(s).

You will have to wait at least 30 days from the day you call to cancel before the buyer can activate if it is the only receiver on your account.
I just purchased a 9200 and was not aware they were being swapped out. I have not yet activated the receiver, will Bell still send me a new 9242 or 9241 and 5900? or am I stuck with a very expensive door stop?
