I had a 3100, a 5800 and a 5900 in the house. Thinking of going HD. Question, if I get a HD receiver, am I allowed to sell the 3100 or the 5800. There are quite a few for sale (at decent prices) on certain famous auction sites. Not sure if Bev allows that anymore.

Edit by 57 - 2011.10.25. You should not sell or buy 9200 or 6100 receivers since they are being phased out and BTV will not activate them. See link below for more on the topic: (They can still be used for OTA so they may have some value to someone interested in that option)

Issues about selling old BEV rcvr with card still in it?

I have decided to sell one of my old BEV receivers, so I need to know what happens if I sell it with the newest card still in it? Do I need to notify BEV? Does this affect my account? Any other info or issues I should be aware of?
I deactivated my 6000 and my 6100 earlier this week in separate phone calls, and I told the CSRs that I had not decided on buyers yet, and both of them said that since I own both of the receivers outright they did not need the purchaser info. All else went very smoothly.
How to "nuke" a 9200 prior to sale?

I can't find a list of tips here at DHC on how to completely zero out to factory status a BEV 9200 prior to my offering it for sale. Sorry if I missed that info somewhere.

What steps can/should I take, apart from obviously deleting everything I can via the user menu?
That's perfect, Mike - I knew I'd seen something like that before!
