Procedures for Buying and Selling of BTV Receivers - See Post 1

Yes, you can sell them. Sometimes they get more than retail from an auction site because some people buy them to use for less than legal purposes, and they don't want to provide any info to Bell.

Just a word of caution on selling your receivers on an auction site, if the person buys it for illegal purpose (ie does not activate it with Bell) they WILL remain in your file until they do.

I have sold one 5100 2 years ago and it is still on my account... I have had some heated discussion with BEV to take them out but they told me it cannot be done..

You are 100% correct.

When I sold my receivers in the past I called Bell myself, and gave them the name of the buyer. Wether or not the buyer uses the receiver for illegal purposes doesn't matter, I'am not resposible for it.

What are you guys talking about.

You call Bell. Deactivate the receiver. Tell them you have sold it. They may ask for the person they may not. I have sold a few of them and they never asked who the buyer was. I have never been called about them either.

The receiver is SOLD. GONZO. Bell should change there policies if they don't want them in the hands of pirates. ex. buy them back themselves.

I don't know what the problem is either. Yes you can sell your receivers, and wether or not they stay on your account if the buyer never calls to activate it dosn't really matter, your allowed to have 6 active receivers receiving programing, so I don't know what the problem is either.

I sold my 6000 on Ebay last summer after I picked up the 9200. The buyer who lived in a Manitoba sent me an email saying that Bell would not activate the receiver because it was still under my account. I called bell and told them I had sold the receiver and gave them the name of the person who now owns it. I received a second email from the buyer saying he had no problem activating the 6000 after my conversation with bell.

That's right, Expressvu will not activate receiver's listed under someone else's name. The owner must call to transfer ownership.

Which makes sense cause if someone broke into your house and stole your receiver, they shouldn't be allowed to activate it.

I bought a receiver on a construction site 5 years ago from a guy named Jack the ironworker, I do not know anything else about him after the job finished I called to activate the receiver they asked for the name of the first owner I told them what I stated above,they said they could give me the name of the owner and I could call and get them to call Bell and release the receiver, I said if you ever give my name out to anyone for any reason I will involve my lawyer, if they want they can make that call and get a release that was up to them.I said if they did not want activate I could go to *choice they said they would activate but if the first owner wanted the receiver back they would involve me.
That was 5 years ago it was a 2700 and I have bought other models since but the $10 2700 is the only one I never had a problem with.

Also, if you currently have three receivers active and sold three others in the past and the buyers never activated them, you still have six receivers on your account according to Bell and cannot add any more.

If that is the case, tell BEV the receiver stopped working and you threw it in the garbage and whoever listed it as sold on the account must have been mistaken.

Not true, I currently have more than 6 receiver's registered to me, but only 6 active receiving programming. You can have more than 6 receivers registered, but only allowed to have 6 active. Two Bell CSR 's I have talked to have confirmed this. There is no limit of the number receivers that canbe registered to your name.

Not sure if I just got some Bell tech that didn't really care, but he removed 2 of my receivers from my account that I had sold ...a 3rd, which is actually broken is still listed.

Yes you can also tell them in advance that you are going to sell it, and to allow whoever calls in to activate it on their account. They will then enter this into their database. The point being the owner has to call Expressvu and let them know that it's been sold first before a buyer can activate the receiver on their account.

My doing this you are transfering ownership to the buyer. Expressvu will just make a note in their database that the reciver is sold, thus the buyer can activate it on their account.

All the same it is in the seller's best interest to inform Expressvu who the receiver is being sold to, as this info will stay in Expressvu's database.

OK, I'll bite. You've been using the receiver for 5 years without activating it? Maybe Bell should be calling their lawyer.
