Hi,

I have my box hooked up using component cables currently and everything works perfect.

I have tried connecting the box to the tv using a DVI -> hdmi cable. When I do this, the picture works fine when I turn the tv on. When I change from one hd channel to another hd, or one sd channel to another sd it works fine. But when I change from an hd channel to an sd channel or vice versa I get this weird multi split picture in funky colours. The only fix for it is to turn the tv off and back on again.

Anybody know why this is?

I moved your post to the appropriate Rogers (Atlantic) forum. The likely cause is that your TV either doesn't accept certain signals (some TVs don't accept 480i via HDMI), or that you have another HDMI handshake issue - especially prevalent with DVI connections. See the following FAQ on HDMI issues.

You may wish to turn the 4:3 override to "off" and then the formats will no longer change between SD and HD, with the STB sending only say 1080i to the TV.

Oh, I didn't think(and still don't) that the problem was specific to my area or my particular hd box, so I put it in the busy forum to get more responses. I went through the faq, can't figure it out, but I'll just leave it hooked up with component. I don't suppose the quality difference is that noticeable anyway.
