I just purchased a Canadian Sportster 5 and would like to activate it on my US account online. The problem is that once you log-in to your account, they give you the option to activate a new unit and enter the device SID#, but after that they want you to pick a term and pay for it. As I'm already in middle of a term, I don't want another $120 US charged to my Visa, just to switch devices. I didn't go past that point, but I'm not seeing any options to simply switch devices and deactivate an old one. Any thoughts here? Thanks.

You'll have to call to switch to a new radio mid-term. There may be a fee to do this, but if you push, they'll usually waive it.
