It's possible that something has become disconnected, broken or failed. By the sounds of it, that could be an amplifier or its power supply.

 

If it was any of those reasons that applied, why wouldn't the problem be consistent when I rotate the antenna?

If the amp, or its power supply was the problem, I wouldn't be able to pick anything up. The amp has no bypass feature. I know from previous tests, that when I pull the plug for the amp, I receive no signals from any direction.

Is there presently more solar flares than normal?

 

When TV preamps and amps fail or lose power, they may still pass a partial signal.

Is there more solar activity affecting OTA in southern Ontario?

 

One of those links is talking about solar transit which affects satellite customers twice a year. Here is the link posted earlier, It says in big letters, "Currently there's no noteworthy space weather."

Anyway, I'll wait it out.

I first learned when I got involved with internet service and computers back in 1998, after messing around with settings and such and nothing working, I finally came to the realisation that most of the time any problems weren't at my end. Without doing anything, 99% of the time the problem would resolve on its own. Strange OTA TV reception issues have occurred many times previously. Magically, they always disappeared on their own.

 

Common causes of interference or lost reception, starting with the most likely, are tropo, local equipment failure, changes or failures at the TV transmitter and other nearby transmitters or, changes in or the creation of new obstacles such as trees and nearby buildings.
