Hi guys -

My first post here, not sure if this is the correct sub-forum but I needed some advice. I live here and have a postpaid plan with Telus but my brother will be visiting Toronto for 2 weeks and I wanted him to be contactable, i.e. get a local prepaid SIM Card.

He has a Blackberry 9700 handset, but data isn't crucial for these 2 weeks, just a basic voice plan. As far as I've seen / heard, most of the big guys charge about $25 just to buy a card or activate, plus of course the voice costs.

What's the most cost effective way to get him a temporary SIM card when he's here? I'm open to any companies..

Thanks!

Thanks

Awesome, thanks! Do you know what provider I can get a 9.99 sim card from? And where I can get ones for $5?! I'm pretty new to this, but they both sound like way better options than the $25 sim card that Fido quoted to me.

Thanks!

Fido lists SIM cards as being $10 at their website. Rogers charges the same thing, as does Telus, and Bell charges $5. I'm not sure why the Fido rep told you $25. Maybe he included the credit you'd need to add for prepaid, or the cost for a month of the cheapest plan.

Make sure his Blackberry is unlocked or else it won't accept another provider's SIM card.
