Yes, the Feedpoint Gap on most G-H's is MUCH Greater than the Width of most Baluns...any excess Balun Wire Length simply acts as a Variable Transmission Line Width Impedance Transformer, usually improving the SWR a bit, so don't worry about it....

Wires that run either UP/DOWN or FORWARD/REVERSE only result in minimal effect on performance...it's the LEFT/RIGHT wires that affect performance. SO Balun and Coax should run either Forward and then straight DOWN [and perhaps BACK to the Mast]....or [my preference] straight to the REAR and Down the Mast....

Very nice build ! You sure put a bit of time into the construction and layout but it was well worth it. I have considered the DBGH and fooled around in the shop but nothing serious yet. Please let us know how it performs over time. Good job!
