I thought the 820 doesn't have OSD. The 825 does (825 in Canada = 820 in the US)
Yes, even without the OSD working, you should be able to see the various menu items on the AVR screen itself. If you don't see them there, then you haven't entered the user setup menu properly. If you do see them there and your manual states that the OSD should work, make sure you've used the correct output (appropriate monitor out - not video out) and that the TV is tuned to the appropriate input (cycle through them if necessary). Also, sometimes it takes a few seconds for the OSD to appear, so be patient.nothing comes up or changes on the receiver display.
David, are you sure that there is a 825? I can't find it from the FS site (though there is a 925)I thought the 820 doesn't have OSD. The 825 does (825 in Canada = 820 in the US)
Thank you so much, that was so simple but the damn book doesn't tell you exactly how to hook it up and I got tired of trying everything I could think of before looking online and found this post and what you said and bam 1 second later it's working so thank you.use 'monitor out' with RCA cable
Hi, I have the same receiver. You have to hook up an RCA cable from the 'monitor out' on the back of the receiver , into your TV. Select the input source on your TV and it should work fine. Hit 'RECEIVER' on remote, then ' SETUP', and you should see the Setup Menu. I have HDMI going to my TV also, and it doesn't create any problems if you have both hooked up as previous poster suggested. As others have stated, you can do what you need to do with the screen on the receiver, its just a bit tricky to navigate. I am pleased with this receiver so far.
