Hi there,

Rookie here to this forum. I've done a quick search to see if my topic has been covered before but my apologies in advance if this issue has received attention before.

I have an SC-05 that I have loved for the past 2+ years, but the receiver has been in storage for the past 6 months as I was moving. About 3 months ago, I bought a new 55" Sammy LCD (LN55C750) to go with my new house. Finally got around to re-assembling my HT this past weekend and am loving having 5.1 audio again. However, I'm now suddenly disappointed with the video performance on the whole setup when running from my cable box into the reciever then into my TV.

It's not that the picture is terrible, it's just, well, not as sharp as when I run it straight from the Rogers PVR to my TV. All connections are via HDMI (Box to receiver to TV or Box to TV direct). This generation of Pioneer was supposed to not have an processing of native HD signals if they went via HDMI if I understand it correctly. My previous TV was also an HD Sammy (but with max res of 720P). I've been pouring over the manual for the SC-05 but am still scratching my head. Thoughts??

There should be an "info/status/recall" or similar button on the TV remote. This should then show you the signal that's getting to the TV. Is it as it should be - 1080i, etc? Also, make sure that the AVR or TV is not stretching/zooming the picture on the input you're on.

Also, if you're on a different input on the TV, it may be calibrated (or not calibrated) differently, showing a difference due to different settings (inputs can require different settings and often contain different settings). Here's the FAQ on Optimizing your TV:
