A store has a couple of 2009 models they are offering a Pioneer Elite VSX-21THX for $750 and the VS-23THX for $950.

Is this a good price and if so which one should I consider?

How does the VSX21 compare to the VSX-1020?
If it can be found for I$700, then the price is comparable to the 1020 (which I have), but I still have time to return my 1020 (if the VSX21 is that much better).

EDIT: Just saw that the VSX21 is a 2009 model. That means it isn't 3D ready right?

Also, maybe someone can chime in about the Elite VSX-30 vs. the VSX-1020?

No the VSX21 and 23 are not 3D ready, the new models have USB 1.4a which is a 3D requirement IIRC.

Personally, I have very little to no interest at all in 3D and rather doubt it will catch on and I sure don't need anymore eyeglasses ... bifocal, computer, reading and 3D ... no.

I have seen the vsx23 online from a Canadian retailer for only $699 !
if it is an online retailer, then it can't be an authorized dealer. Pioneer Elite brand does not allow their dealers to sell it online. Hence you won't get ANY warranty whatsoever from Pioneer.
