I've got my "Flying Arrow" aimed at the CN tower right now and my OTA set to channel 65, the channel Global was said to be using in Toronto. Still waiting for the Global HD signal to come alive today. (Oct 11th) Lets see if they can do it!voyager6868 said:So will Global actually be broadcasting HDTV OTA, or is it just for the cable/satellite providers now? If so, what areas will be covered?
Great pics, and excellent attention to detail, especially the grounding. That looks like AWG 8 cable you used? Did you go with a custom ground rod or did you connect to the house ground?HDTV101 said:Ground everything.
To post pics, when making a post... look for a little yellow box in the top center with a mountain in it. Click on it and another box will open. Past you pics url in this box and click ok.Yaamon said:HDTV101 Thank u.Yes it is I bought one yesterday.
The other side of the house is the satellite dishes.
How do you post the pictures, that they show up ? I have account at picturetrail.
Please post such info in the stickied thread about equipment and installers. We're always looking for that kind of info.rodc said:So no grounding wire???? You have to get me the name of the fearless installation crew as I may need an antenna installed in Markham soon.
Glad those big hydro high tension wires are way behind you and not in front.Yaamon said:The other side of the house is the satellite dishes.![]()
It's not just about a direct hit from lightning but during and before a storm the air becomes charged with ions and they will collect on your antenna... if it's not grounded to earth the charge will build up and once it gets large enough it will sporadically discharge down your coax. This can and will damage your receiver... you must ground the mast! Also a gas filled discharge unit should be on the coax too at the ground block.Yaamon said:Rod thanks
Will run a 12gauge wire soon is that really necessary ?
That’s AWG #6 copper! It's bonded to the Stack on the roof with a copper strap you can see if you look closely at my first set of pics at the top of the page. From there it travels directly to the basement where it bonds to the 3/4 inch copper main water line. The Furnace Stack is also bonded here again directly to the water pipe.stampeder said:Great pics, and excellent attention to detail, especially the grounding. That looks like AWG 8 cable you used?
