Trudeau's already trying to ban conservative media from Canada.
Tell his CRTC regulators that you OPPOSE this ban: https://tinyurl.com/crtc-fox-ban

There's unreliable journalism everywhere across all media. I would like the opportunity of determining what I believe is true and what isn't. Thanks very much.

I dunno, the one that just had to pay $700 million in settlement money because their own internal communications showing they knew they were lying and did it anyway to not make Trump mad at them is a bit different.

That crap has no place existing. The whole problem today is people want to hear what tells them they're right, not whats true. That Fox "News" entire business model.

As recent events have proven, Faux News is a propaganda channel, not news. They have been caught blatantly lying and it's cost them over 3/4 billion, with another defamation suit in the works. Rupert Murdoch, the owner of Fox made his money in supermarket rags, the ones with the stories about aliens, etc. Fox was created to promote the Republican party, not accurately report the news. As an example, they recently did a piece on crime in American cities. They went out of their way to point out crime in Democratic areas, even though it was often worse in Republican areas, which didn't seem to get mention. Tucker Carlson was also recently fired over some blatant racist comments.

Anyone who considers them "news" needs a reality check.

Fox is not "unreliable" it's often blatant lies and a Republican agenda.

This is the problem that I have with folks like the original poster. This became about Trudeau when he has nothing to do with it. If an LBGTQ group wants to petition the CRTC to ban FOX News, that is their right to do so. They have a right to be heard. Now unlike most conservatives, I actually believe in freedom so I don't think there is any merit to ban FOX News. For a political ideology that spouts freedom; they love banning books, cancelling "woke" people/organizations, deciding what is acceptable birth control, banning abortion, banning gender affirming care for all ages (but under the guise of protecting children).

It's already here. We have Rebel Media, True North News and Canada Proud among others. All which are heavily financed by wealthy donors (and probably the same donors that fund Conservative and People's Party campaigns).
no body i know watches fox news in the usa, no body i know watches rebel media news here in canada. the people who talk and promote fox and rebel are very small but vocal group of conspiracy theorist idiots who believe the stupidest thing with no concrete evidence like that chris sky saccocia guy who thinks if you spell illuminati.com backwards and enter that in your url it takes you to the nsa web site, he is so stupid he has no clue how the internet works it was proven that private citizen owns that domain name and redirected it himself to the nsa website as a joke but this fool thinks otherwise those are the people who watch fox and rebel. losers

This would only give the right more ammunition to claim they are being censored or oppressed. If you don't like Fox, turn the channel. Government censorship is wrong.

Problem is, Fox's lies were a significant contributor to Jan. 6. There's a difference between free speech and inciting violence.

There is a lot more people than you realize that watch these. FOX News is the most watched news channel in America and often has more than double the audience of rival cable news channels. Even here in Canada, Rebel has gained quite a following. People often can't escape their own perspective. As an example you say that you don't know anyone that watches these media companies so in your mind only a fringe minority of people consume it. You will hear the same from someone that does watch say Rebel media. They often interact with people that think like they do leading them to believe that their opinion is the majority opinion.

This is a slippery slope IMO. Pierre Poilievre is already itching to defund the CBC in its entirety. This just gives the conservatives more fodder to do so. Trump, his lawyers (especially Powel and Giuliani) had a way bigger hand in it.

I don't support banning Fox News but I don't see how it obtained almost universal carriage in Canada while other US channels did not. Canadian broadcasters must have seen the dollar signs and ignored everything else. Let's call Fox "News" by it's real name, Fox Propaganda. Along with other right wing organizations, it is funded by far right, radical conservative billionaires who are only interested in creating an ultra conservative oligarchy that caters to the interests of the ultra rich at the cost ordinary citizens, particularly minority groups and the disenfranchised. The problem with organizations like Fox "News" is that they only need to influence a small percentage of voters to put far right politicians in power. They support people like Trump who want to overturn Democracy and the rule of law and, turn the country into an autocracy permanently controlled by themselves.

I was somewhat surprised that, although Fox "News" is the most watched "news" channel, they have about 1-2 Million viewers. That is less than 1% of the US population. Nobody young gets their news from TV news channels any more.
Several more radical channels calling themselves news sources have appeared and are gaining viewers at Fox's expense. It seems as if every radical right wing billionaire and his friends can have their own channel these days. Some even have their own social media site to attract social media followers.

This is very true; FOX News average viewer is greater than 65+ and even MSNBC and CNN also have a similar average age (though a bit lower). Conservatives are getting their news from sites like the Daily Wire, Daily Beast, Breitbart News, RSBN etc. Thing is a lot of people are completely unaware of this but one of the biggest reasons why online right wing media does better than left wing media is it's mostly funded by wealthy individuals or the many political think tanks. News gathering is not a profitable venture in most cases and wealthy right wingers see funding media as an investment. They fund the media to do propaganda on behalf of conservative parties, they get into power and lower their tax burden and deregulate so they can capture more market share.
