In my opinion for HD flat panels your size estimates of what you will find comfortable is a lot bigger than what you find comfortable in an old CRT SDTV. I'd say you could put a 50" or larger HDTV in your room. Having said that the Panasonic is a good brand, so I'd go for the bigger TV.
