I bought a p54s1 for 1499 but haven't picked it up yet (getting delivered from another store). I'm now second guessing the purchase due to the black level crap.

I'd really like to get a 54-55" at a good price, not interested in high end, but still want a decent tv for a long time.

Would anyone bite on the s1 at that price?

I believe the S1 series is last years model. The S2 series is current. I always try and get a better price if I but last years model.

Greetings

are you going to calibrate it and what kind of lighting condition will it be used under?

No calibration? Then the black thing is moot ...
Day time viewing with sunlight? Night time with lights on in the room? then the black thing is moot again.

regards

Thanks for the replies

I will likely calibrate it myself with a disc but not professionally, the tv will be placed in the basement...unlikely to be totally dark.

S1 is last years model, which is why I am able to get it for 1499, I think the 54" s2 retails for $1899. I felt like it's a good price for a decent tv...was just trying to get some other opinions :)
