Astral Media officially debuts Ottawa's newest FM radio station next Thursday May 27th at 6:00 PM.

CJOT-FM, currently dubbed Ottawa 99.7 but said to be launching as Love FM, will be Astral’s 84th radio station in Canada and with a peak radiated power of 100,000 watts, it will be one of Ottawa's most powerful radio stations.

The application for Ottawa 99.7 FM was approved by the CRTC in August of 2008 and the station began testing its signal in late April.

According to its application to the federal regulators, Astral says the station will broadcast an adult contemporary format with 40% of its musical selections categorized as popular music.

The station is expected to compete with CJMJ-FM, a CTV Globemedia station which broadcasts from 100.3 FM and is best known as Majic 100.

Complete details about the station will be announced on launch day.

Ottawa 99.7 FM will be Astral’s fourth in the Ottawa Gatineau market. Other Astral stations in the area include: CKQB-FM, CIMF-FM and CKTF-FM.
