This thread is for sharing info on Canadian web sites that sell OTA antennas and related gear. There are plenty of U.S. sites out there, but this thread is specifically for Canadian ones since many readers prefer to not have issues with cross-border shipping, fees, etc.

Posting of listed prices, deals, etc. from those Canadian web sites IS allowed in this thread. Don't post links.

For discussing technical details of particular antennas use the existing threads in this forum. This thread is just for finding Canadian online OTA Gear purchasing sites. If you don't want to buy online, see the BC, Quebec, and Ontario threads in this forum for OTA parts, sales, service, and installers in your area.

www.tigerdirect.ca

www tigerdirect ca sells Terrestrial Digital (Antennas Direct) antennas, but at a very considerably higher price than sensuz sells better Channel Master antennas.

I would say that unless you have a gift certificate I cannot see why anyone would pay so much for those antennas there! As of January 11, 2008:
  • DB8 8-bay UHF = $134.99
  • DB4 4-bay UHF = $73.99
  • DB2 2-bay UHF = $60.99
Cough cough... compare with sensuz and you'll see what I mean!

www.thesourcecc.com

www thesourcecc com continues to sell a bunch of laughable indoor antennas, but they also have two somewhat well regarded antennas, as of January 11, 2008:
  • 1501880 indoor set top antenna = $59.99
  • 1508227 VHF/FM/UHF Combo outdoor antenna = $149.99
Stay away from all other TV antennas in there, but also keep in mind that they have lots of great OTA gear, such as mounts, ground rods, etc.

  • CM4228 = $100.88
  • CM4221 = $58.77

Great idea for a thread!!

Came across this store recently: AntechTrade Onlinestore.

I've never been to their store or bought anything from them, so I can't make any statements with regards to service, etc.
Their prices default to US $$, but you can change that.
Based on their "contact us" page, they are in Markham, ON and they seem to be near my home - I should pay them a visit!

  • CM 4228 = $122.04
  • CM 4221 = $67.25
  • AT-YG17B = $61.14
  • AT-MB04 = $39.49

Also sell some equipment for mounting.

cheers :D, and have a great weekend!

www.microinformatique.ca

They sell Terrestrial Digital (Antennas Direct) antennas at a very reasonable price compared to most canadian dealers I have seen for that particular brand. Search for "antenna". As of January 11, 2008:

  • 43XG UHF = $53.77
  • 91XG UHF = $83.51
  • DB2 2-bay UHF = $35.44
  • DB4 4-bay UHF = $48.88
  • DB8 8-bay UHF = $80.66
Based in St. Hubert Quebec on the South Shore of the Montreal area.

The DB4 and DB8 are actually a bit cheaper than that if you walked into one of their stores. The last time I was at Tiger Direct I saw them for $64 and $110 (almost the same price I've seen the Channel Master selling for).

By the way, can we also mention actual stores as well in addition to web based ones?

www.warepark.com

You can get the Phillips/Zenith Silver Sensor clone from www warepark com for $25, either via their eBay store or if you want to, you can drive out to their warehouse, just east of York University.

Wow, warepark's price on the Philips PHDTV3 ZSS clone is terrific. :)

Be careful to avoid the Philips MANT410 there! I have no personal experience with the Samsung TVDA1000 antenna listed there, which looks like its really just a 2-bay bowtie reflector wrapped in plastic, but if a person can't make a go of things with a ZSS clone they should just go right to an outdoor antenna.

Warepark sells a real ZSS but it is used!

Hi, long time lurker here.
awesome forum. glad I found this thread.
after seeing the info on warepark I visited their website and ordered the Silver Sensor and for the fun of it the Samsung TVDA1000

The SS is an actual Zenith packaged one --- used. yipeee picking up CBC hd in vancouver.

The samsung is also used. can't hook this one up right away. doesn't have standard F type connector on the back of it.
Stampeder, FYI, I opened this one up. it's a bowtie type config etched on a PCB.

In regards to masts, tripods, cabling, etc. it looks like canadacomputers is a good source.

I just had a look at their "Digiwave" antennas. They remind me of a document from Chinese manufacturers I was sent a few years ago which offered about 500 different antenna types from about a dozen different companies/factories if I wanted to start importing them. Do they work? Who knows? Are they a safe bet? All I can say is that they're cheap, but...

I have one of those "digiwave" antennas and they function quite well for the price. One drawback is how lightweight it is. While that might be great for installation it has a chance of breaking down or being damaged in harsh conditons.

Mine is so far so good, and looks like i will keep it for a few years.

Btw, that antenna design is used by many companies. I got mine from www dot partsforhdtv dot com and its the exact same model as used by Digiwave.

That place also has Channel Master Antenna's and Pre-amps as well

S/H charges w/o registry

It would be nice to find out the s/h charges without having to go through the hassle of registering on each retail site.
As we all know, shipping charges can break any deal -- just look at eBay. Just my 2c
