Watching the Bills lose every week I have started paying more attention to PQ than the game. I noticed that WIVB (OTA) pixelates during fast moving graphics and quick plays. This does not happen on CFTO (OTA). Both stations have very strong signals at my location and this is observed on a 600 hz 1080p plasma.

Can someone else confirm this problem on WIVB which does not seem to happen on CFTO.

I can't check bit rates or bandwidth but is WIVB using their full single channel bandwidth?

looks like they are if ya look at this Buffalo Mux Usage album I made a while ago. Of course that's in April or sumthin. but the lack of any spikes/peaks may be indicative that they're using a Constant Bit Rate (CBR)?
Of course I haven't looked during a football game, too depressing:(
Actually I think we're past the point of depression around here, LOL.
Looking forward to a fresh new hockey season...

I'll try an take a look to confirm it looks the same. Haven't noticed any pixelation/blocking here though, I don't think.

Edit: Yup, looks like the same amount of mux usage, solid flat line above 90%.
Of course football is over right now, but also noted ZERO Continuity Errors and ZERO TEI Errors
in the received stream.
Don't think I've ever caught CFTO long enough to do any of the same type logs on it.
Doesn't even get here unless really good tropo conditions are favoring.
So someone up there would have to capture CFTO for us to be able to compare.

600hz plasma?
heh

You might want to add audio quality to your comparison too.
I don't watch football, so meh.
But on other programming, I've occasionally noted that CBS is more 'tinny'/muffled sounding than a channel displaying the same content.
It's hit and miss, though.
