Please Don't Buy From Digi Wave Technologies (now called HomeVision Technology)

A company called Digi Wave technologies which I have learned has a lot of references around here has been found to be plagiarizing from the site of our OTA Forum moderators information site.

In some cases entire pages were cut and paste onto their site without permission or attribution.

Out of respect for Stampeder, we have banned the company's name from our site by using the censorship option because I do not wish anyone on this site to read about them and would allow them to profit from their stealing.

I encourage members who respect the great things Stampeder has done for OTA in this country and this forum to contact these people and give them hell.

I'm disgusted.
Content aside, even the formatting is the same.
I recognized content from 2 other sites.
I'm going to let Daniel T. know that his content is being ripped off too, unless someone else has beat me to it.
If you have any
questions or comments about the design of this site, direct them to me and NOT to
Industry Canada.

I had a recent post to respond to another user's crappy experience in their preamp before the name got zapped.

Anyways, please don't buy them...

So are you going to send them a notice of copyright infringement?
No, I had left that part of my web site uncopyrighted all along while I was still developing it so this was simply a matter of Internet propriety and plagiarism. Yesterday I asserted copyright on it and applied an open source license to it thusly:
This material may be distributed only subject to the terms and conditions
set forth in the Open Publication License, v1.0 or later. The latest version
is presently available at http://www.opencontent.org/openpub/.

Distribution of substantively modified versions of this document is prohibited
without the explicit permission of the copyright holder.
So if/when it shows up on another site without the above notice and accreditation to me or in altered form without my consent I will deal with the offender accordingly.

If/when Digital Home's material shows up on another site it will be dealt with by Hugh.

I don't want to diverge into legal areas that I know nothing about (and you shouldn't take this as legal advice), but the absence of a copyright notice has absolutely no impact on whether material is protected by copyright in Canada or the United States. Unless explicitly placed in the public domain, the default is that material is protected by copyright and that all rights are reserved by the copyright holder.

tha'ts my understanding as well, copyright exists from the moment of creation of the work.

Proving when the work was created becomes the hard and expensive part, the easy way is to mail yourself a letter with the details in it, and *don't open it* when received. The postal mark is proof of date.

(I think this is valid...)

Folks, rather than debating copyright, please read post #1. The point is that Digi Wave ripped stampeder off. If that bothers you then let the company know and pass the word around that Digi Wave is a dishonest disreputable company that steals from others.

DIY antenna Utube video

That's the video that gave DIY 4 bay antennas a bad name.

If someone made a good Utube video on making a G-H it would probably triple the amount of people using them. Especially if they could make them with cloths hangers and wood.

OK, I'll bite

So, last night I built the coat hanger UHF antenna, this was free but not easy, took 3 hrs to construct this thing, I have a RCA Loop on my PC and a Jensen Amplified on my Sony....I did try the coat hangers on the PC with Beyond TV and the Canadian channels were fine...it was late at this point (1AM) and I went to bed....tonight I will try Windows7 Media Center as it is set to Niagara Falls already and see if I can get NBC....if that works I will bring this funky looking contraption downstairs and re-scan for OTA channels....so guys, I will also try to get the US feed, next project, some red and blue markers to make some 3d glasses as the Intel/SoBe promotion is only in the US....
