Options List for 8xx Receivers

Hi Team,

We have just moved to the 8xx series of receivers due to the pending demise of F2 (by mid 2023?). Can you advise if there is a list of Option Codes and their function for those receivers?

I never found a list of codes for the 6xx units but there are a few mentioned here in various threads. I suspect some of the old codes from the 6xx units will work but I'd like to have an accurate list to share.

If there isn't a list already perhaps you could post the codes you know and their functions in this thread and we can build one.

Thanks for the assist.

The software between 6XX and 8XX is nearly identical, all remote codes are the same. They are hidden for a reason - any use of them really requires you to call Shaw Direct anyway (like a factory reset, you need a refresh after. Or the temporary map change, you need to have it changed permanently in the backend or else it'll reset itself overnight anyway).

I suspect that most codes would be the same but there is no documentation I can find that indicates that. Actually I couldn't find a single thread on these codes at all, so that's why I started this one. I remember seeing a code here and there in various posts on various subjects.

I don't believe that all hidden codes require contacting Shaw Direct, some of them are just quick ways, shortcuts if you will, to get to screens that will assist in dialing in the dish, or seeing what the signal strength is, quality levels, Satellite IDs, Transponders, etc. Some will do various types of boots, resets, reformatting Hard Drives, etc. And while some may require a refresh / re-hit by the Customer, I was hoping to list those who require contacting Shaw Direct so folks would avoid them unless absolutely necessary.
I guess you can use HELP-OPTIONS-POWER to reboot the receiver (it's listed in the instructions we posted for the November 29th outage on shawdirect.ca). These are the advertised ones, but these just get you to a menu that's otherwise accessible through navigating the Menu Bar. These are in place as a preservation from the way the Menus worked for 5XX and SD receivers that were retired.

Shortcut DestinationRemote Sequence
User PreferencesOptions - 4 - 1
User Preferences > Video and Audio SettingsOptions - 4 - 2
Tune in Satellite Signal ScreenOptions - 4 - 3 - 1
User Preferences > Language & Accessibility Settings > Closed captions (CC) SettingsOptions - 4 - 4
User Preferences > Video SettingsOptions - 4 - 5
Settings Menu > Status > Network StatusOptions - 4 - 6
Settings Menu > Status > System StatusOptions - 4 - 7
User Preferences > PVR SettingsOptions - 4 - 8 or Options-5

The other two I can think of are useful for Accessibility reasons:

HELP-C (Toggle Closed Captions)
HELP-D (Toggle Descriptive Video)

Any others are technical in nature and again, aren't generally suggested for customer use without a TSR assistance.

That's a good start to the list - Thanks! (y)

I think we should mention all known codes, and just advise whatever caution is applicable, and let the member here decide if they want to use it.

Thanks P2B. There's a lot of info there. Not that I know what some of it means!

Here's another code. Option-1-1-2-2 gives you the option to toggle back to a previous channel map temporarily. It will revert after 24 hours.

This list is from an old Post:

4378 - xKu New Lineup
4321 - xKu Classic
4323 - xKu Advanced
4377 - Quad New Lineup
4320 - Quad Classic
4322 - Quad Advanced
4379 - Stacked New Lineup
4319 - Stacked Classic
4318 - Stacked Advanced

The last three are rarely used as Stacked LNBs are few and far between at this point.

I think a new one is 4314 - probably for the new codec?

Keep them coming Gents!

There is now a difference between 6XX and 8XX channel maps, given 6XX will not be compatible with HEVC. 4314 is the 4378 equivalent for 8XX.

Thanks for the explanation. Are there any more Option Codes we haven't listed?
