1. The installer will test the line to see if it's capable and without faults. If it's not, it should be replaced.
2. Generally you shouldn't have to pay for a replacement cable. Depending on workload though, you may have to wait a while for it to be replaced.
3. Temporary drops aren't kosher at TELUS, unless it's an emergency situation.
4. I don't think you'd be able to use the 2Wire instead of the D-Link for HPNA, for Optik at least. You could ask the installer - if it will work and they have the necessary equipment with them it might be a possibility...
