Hey all, I love this forum and have been reading it for a while, and decided to change sides from Shaw HD to Telus TV. Install is set for Aug 15.

My Questions are:

1. My line is over 30 years old, house was built in 1980 but like some houses have an external term point. i don't. The conduit is straight from PED down the alley into the house. The original damaged shaw line is in the same pipe as telus. Just as linked below: (left pipe is telus right pipe/box is Shaw.

On the account the PED is over a 500 or more feet from the house, what happens if the line is bad? We never used it since we moved in during sept 2005.

2:Would one have to pay if the line was bad?

3: Does Telus run temp lines like Shaw did? (I would really hope not, as the Shaw PED is straight behind the house and we had to go through HR:fire and high water to get a new line done)

4: Is it possible to use a 2wire Telus modem instead of the D-link for HPNA? not much a fan of D-link

1. The installer will test the line to see if it's capable and without faults. If it's not, it should be replaced.
2. Generally you shouldn't have to pay for a replacement cable. Depending on workload though, you may have to wait a while for it to be replaced.
3. Temporary drops aren't kosher at TELUS, unless it's an emergency situation.
4. I don't think you'd be able to use the 2Wire instead of the D-Link for HPNA, for Optik at least. You could ask the installer - if it will work and they have the necessary equipment with them it might be a possibility...

Sweet. CR123 Thanks very much. Just counting the days down..if only there were an earlier install date.. I would love it if people took pictures or a Youtube video of their Optik experience or setup..I will try it

They let me keep my 2Wire in addition to the new router. The installer said the wifi was better on the 2Wire.

Really?, that seems a little downing..always have had drops, and slowdowns with Dlink equip. Well we will see if it is better now

Now that's not bad at all, a neighbor next door has telus w/2wire and a friend of mine 2 houses down still has 70% of signal from it...lol where mine he has like none...
