Optik on the go will not work for me on Galaxy S2.

It will open and I can choose a station(any station) but then just crashes.

It does work for me on my Acer 500 tablet though.

Update: It seems that I was logged in to Optik on the go from another device.
Although it didn't tell me that until I uninstalled and reinstalled it.

Now it works on all devices.

For those who have rooted and are getting the "Sorry...not on your hardware" message, Root Cloak and/or Root Cloak Plus are your friends. I needed Root Cloak for one of my devices and both for another. Now Optik on the Go works.

CTV On Demand

CTV is now available in Optik on the go and On Demand. Take CTV with you and watch live CTV programming or access full-length on demand shows in the comfort of your home. Find it: On Demand/TV On Demand/Major Networks/CTV or tune into On Demand channel 107.

You can also use the CTV Go app to get complete access to CTV and CTV Two including Live TV using your Optik TV account and password.

v4.0.5 with support for Lollipop just rolled out. Unfortunately, it's got better root detection and root cloak no longer works for me (still on KitKat). Make sure you've got a backup before you try to update.

It doesn't work on my OnePlus which has CyanogenMod 4.4.4 out of the box. I get the "device has been modified or rooted..." message. Works on my HTC One X+.

""Optik on the go"" availability on other non optik telus home networks

Hello, Does anyone happen to know if there is anyway I can watch my "Optik on the go" channels (that are only available on my home network) on other non Optik tv Telus home networks?
TIA

Here are the lists of live channels you can watch in the home and anywhere:

http://www.telus.com/en/ab/tv/apps/optik-on-the-go/?INTCMP=TcomTVAppsBANOTG#channels-app-wrapper

The owners of the channels control how they can be viewed. For those that can only be viewed on your TELUS home Wi-Fi network, the only way Telus can verify that your are in your home is if you are using Telus internet. If you are using a third-party internet provider, Telus has no way to verify your location and comply with its contract with the channel owner.
Q: Why are some live TV channels only available to watch when I am at home on my TELUS Internet?

A: Due to programming rights, not all channels that are available to watch in the home are also available to watch outside the home. Channels that are available within the home only will display a "home icon" in the guide.

The answer is still no. I misunderstood your original question a little, but the explanation is the same. Those "home" channels are only available in the home where they are subscribed.

Does the Onthego app count towards Cap at home?

Just a question if the Onthego app counts towards the bandwidth cap if you're using in at home with Telus Internet.

Yes, any internet traffic counts towards your cap, including On the Go.

Video that you view through your Optik box doesn't count as internet traffic, whether it's scheduled TV, Video on Demand, or CraveTV.

Q: Is there a cost associated with watching TV programs on my smartphone, tablet or online?

A: There is no additional charge to watch TV On Demand or Live TV. It's a free feature for Optik subscribers and all customers will be able to watch. Channels included in the Essentials are available for free and additional On Demand channels are available if you subscribe to the corresponding channel. Data charges may apply if you exceed the data usage included with your Internet or mobile service plans.

The problem I have is that while I can watch Optik on the go on my computer on my telus internet, it won't let me do that from the smartphone app even with the cell network disabled...though my cell is on the telus network as well.

If your trying to watch a channel with a green house beside it, even on a TELUS internet connection, you are out of luck they only work on your home internet. All other Channels can be watched any where.
