Hi again DetroitTVFan,
I started getting WGTE-30 last summer after Global 29 changed to RF-35. WGTE is very easy to get for me, it always was in the old analogue days and I'm glad to have it back! Global 29 was blocking it until it changed from RF-29 to RF-35. And WUPW started coming in with the latest phase of the repack taking effect in March. WUPW-36 was always very fuzzy, but stable in the analogue days due to the null in our direction. The null still seems to be in effect if you check out the reception contour at the Rabbit Ears website, but 36 is now coming in! The only thing I can think of, is that they have changed their contour boundaries, and Rabbit Ears has not updated the info, or WUPW has increased its power, enabling us to receive it north of highway 3 in Essex County. I'm just glad to see it appear!
Now, when WUDT 23 relocates to RF-8, we should see WNWO 24 again, making us 5 for 5 for Toledo reception. Do you know when WUDT is supposed to move? I thought it was gonna move in March, but no luck yet!

Anyone out there lose 51.1 CHCH when they moved to RF 14? Been almost non-existent for the last month or two. Anyone get it in the first place? :)
Could be WLNS Lansing also on rf14 interfering , its was a powerful signal but since CHCH going there is also hard for me now. They just might be canceling each other out.

That makes perfect sense. I didn't know WLNS was on rf14. Maybe 51.1 CHCH will come in better in the winter when WLNS recedes from its' summer tropo wanderings!

I was just the opposite Tec Stack, WLNS/WLAJ rf14 came in nearly every morn. but when CHCH went to rf14 that all stopped. Been a bad year for Dxing also as there's too many stations stacked on each other unless your far from a metro area. This shorter tv band is terrible.

Just a side note.....if WHNE rf3 was smart they would join with WUDT when they go to rf8 and gain back all the lost viewers when they went to low vhf. WHNE has a null to Windsor now on low vhf3 to protect a Sandusky Ohio station on rf3. I dont think they had to null Windsor to protect Sandusky as Windsor is still very far away from lake erie. They could have put more of a signal our way but there's not many low vhf antennas being used anymore.I dont know anyone that has had even a sniff of WHNE since there move. Its too bad bc theyhad some good channels I used to enjoy.

Never been able to get whne rf-3. VHF elements might not be long enough, or just too far to overcome the null in our direction. It would be great to get it. I'm still bummed out about WEWS 5 from Cleveland disappearing, over a crappy station like 15 WHPS. Their programing doesn't seem to offer anything worth watching. I don't know how they even stay afloat. Channel 5 from Cleveland, being the most powerful station from that city, was always an easy grab for me during the late evening to dawn time frame, especially in summertime. Anyone in Kingsville or Leamington/Wheatly having a problem with WEWS 5, now that WHPS has invaded Essex County with it's signal?

Yes , your right about prob now with WEWS Clev. I have the same prob out at the cottage near Colchester.I had WEWS nearly 24/7but now its sporadic with the tropo since WHPS with its crappy low power signal. The only Clev that comes in fairly regular is WBNX rf17 since Im away from the CTV2 signal in Windsor.Even have trouble with WJW rf8 as it now fights with WLIO Lima Ohio.My best bet for lake tropo now is Columbus Ohio as it comes in strong late night with the very few channel openings left on the band. My only channel openings out there now are RF 10,12, 14, 18, 28 30 as you see only about 4 UHF . the rest are filled with Windsor,Detroit,Toledo and Clev.

A friend of mine in the Detroit area gave me some great news for those of you who run a VPN. There is an app called LOCAST that will give you free local tv in a number of US markets.Detroit is included and WHNE is also on it if your missing watching Retro TV and Get TV. It is also available on Roku just look in channel store for it.

Has anyone in the Windsor area or across Canada with a VPN tried the Locast app at all???
Hi Detroit - I used Locast for awhile. Pretty good service. I found it was necessary to pay the $5 monthly fee to eliminate adds but not a big cost. I ended up having some issues with cast functionality and haven't used it for the last number of months but no real complaints. Something else to consider if you use Android is Mobdro - excellent option.

Thx for the reply Rads, I dont have a VPN to be able to see Locast even though on the Roku there is an app for it here in Canada. For those who have a Roku and have a VPN it could be a nice way to cut the cord and save a few bucks.Watching it on a laptop wouldnt be as good as a 55 inch 4K.

WNWO NBC 24 Toledo watchers heads up. As was reported on the michigan radio/tv buzz board WNWO has been granted by the FCC to increase power to 275kw at a height of 1391 ft. word is they are going to increase in the next few weeks. We will see if the increase allows viewers in the county to once again pick it up even though low power WUDT is still on RF23 along with NBC24.Im sure here in Windsor proper we will still be blocked by the WUDT signal until they vacate RF23. Also they are to have a more southern directional signal with maybe a null to lake erie and Ont. We will see if this will effect us here in Essex county or not. Please post in the next little while if your able to get WNWO once again where ever you are in our area.Thx......

This is great news. WNWO is completely blocked for me right now because of WUDT. Can't wait for them to switch. Anyone else out there getting WUPW 36? I emailed the WUPW engineer about any changes made, and he said they have a shiny new transmitter, it's a little higher than it was, and they had an increase of about 3 kilowatts. It's made all the difference with my ability to receive it. It comes in about 95% of the time with these subtle changes. Now when WUDT changes to vhf-8, that might just fix things with WNWO's issues here in Essex County. Time will tell.

Hi tecumseh....thats great news about WUPW 36. It still evades us here in east Windsor. Im near the ford test track central and tec. Im only up about 20 ft with my clearstream 4V. I need to get up a bit higher I think. Im getting WGTE PBS and WTOL rf11 and WTVG rf13 no prob. Also waiting to see when if the power increase at WNWO rf23 will blast it through WUDT until they go to rf8.

do you have an amp on your HDstacker antenna???

Hi Detroit TV fan,
Yes, I do have a preamp for my HD Stacker: Winegard LNA 200 Boost. Using authentic copper RG-6 coax too, and only going to one tv set. Like you, I am 20 feet high, which is good, but 40 feet would be better! Trouble is, our hobby of DXing is a little less fun now with this compressed repack. I used to pick up most of Cleveland, sometimes Erie, PA; Lansing, Bowling Green, Fort Wayne, etc....now blocked out from most of these cities with the 2018/19 repack. Going up higher than 20 feet would not give us as much distant reception as we used to get before the repack, I think. Channel 15 from Detroit blocking out WEWS 5 from Cleveland really bugs me. GRRRRR!
