With Coulthard in the commentary box, it means more Eddie Jordan for the rest of us who find ways to watch the BBC pre-race.

Yay!

Damn ! That's bad news . Kubica is a favourite of mine. I hope he has a fast recovery.

Great new for Bruno Senna though. You just never know how being a 3rd driver can suddenly be a good thing.

Given that testing just started this past week and the season is little over a month away I can't believe they allowed Kubica to participate in this rally. I was in Poland last year and I can tell you he's a massive star there. Overnight he made F1 one of the most followed sports in the country. He's also a pretty exciting driver to watch.

Pinza,

I thought Romain Grosjean was the third driver at what is now called Lotus Renault. Grosjean was involved in testing the new Pirelli tyres. He never really did get a fair chance in F1 as he was brought in mid-season without testing under Flavio Briatore. All second drivers faired poorly when he was managing the team.

Pinza, it seems you are right. Senna is first reserve driver, Grosjean second. If they've got a race winning car though I think they'll go for someone with more experience. I'd guess Heidfeld or maybe even Hulkenburg who is supposed to be a reserve driver at Force India, but there's probably a get-out clause if a full time drive becomes available.

Couldn't agree more, he's the leader of the team and with tests coming up, this is absolute stupidity in Renault's part or whatever they are called now.

He's not going to lose his hand but he may miss the whole season

Hand reconstruction specialists in Italy are working hard to save the functionality of Robert Kubica’s right hand tonight after a high speed accident in a rally car this morning.
There were reports initially that the Pole risked losing the hand, but that risk has now passed. However it seems that the rehabilitation from a crush injury such as this can be six months or more, which means that the Renault driver may miss the bulk of the season.

Webber was allowed to race bicyles and ended up with a serious injury last year.
With all the $$$$$ on the line,it's a wonder these atheletes take part in the other sports. Of course , you can break a leg slipping in the tub..

As much as I am looking forward to the start of the season, I think they would be wise to cancel immediately. The powers that be in that country view the F1 race as very important to their image and I would hate for the F1 race to be somehow responsible for any deaths as they crack down even more to quell the protests before the race weekend.

PS: I think McLaren may have a mighty quick car this year. Hamilton may be a threat for the championship.

I certainly hope so, but to be honest they haven't shown much during testing, I guess we'll see where they stand during this weekend tests at Barcelona.

The big enigma this year will be the tires, with Pirelli now supplying the tyres. the word on the paddock is that the tires are not as durable as the Bridgestones, so the drivers and cars that can take care a better care of the tires will have a better chance.

Some people say that we may see at least 3 pit stops per race for tires.

I have a sneaking suspicion that they are sandbagging
They better be bagging it very heavy :D b/c the Red Bull looks mighty fast and Mclaren times are nowhere close to them.

Mclaren sidepods look great but will they work? When it comes to car design/aerodynamics, Adrian Newey doesn't get fooled very often and Red Bulls look great.

I was looking forward to seeing some racing the second weekend of March. Oh well, at least we will get an open wheel racing season opening doubleheader with the first F1 race and the first IndyCar race of the season both on March 27.
