Free preview is over and despite what shaw's web site says in the "Channel listings for Winnipeg, Manitoba" section, it's not part of the HDEducation (Plus) package like National Geographic HD etc., but is now available as a pick and pay for $2.95.

Oasis HD is a premium HD service, and because it is considered niche programming, we are offering Oasis HD a la carte for only $2.95/month to all HD customers. We will continue to add HD channels to HD Plus, including most recently Sportsnet ONE HD.

I just got off of the shaw customer service chat and I was told that it will be included for people that are paying 16 dollars a month for HD plus and that people that are grandfathered in to the 12 dollars a month price will not be getting any new HD channels

That is totally BS.

So the 12 buckers will be forced to get Shaw to change their fee to 16 or forced to pay 3 bucks for each channel that is added.

Well according to this post you are supposed to have it:

so "playing dumb" shouldn't be necessary I would hope. I'm a $12 hd plus person BTW.

Sure would be nice to have consistency across shaw land instead of different answers depending on who you talk to and where you're located.

Sorry DSGamby I'm not yelling at you in any way here I'm just using your post as a reference for my rant.

Yes I couldn't agree more. What I'm thinking now is if they are going to start charging individually for these channels then i want them to add the other high fidelity HD stations. Then they could justify charging extra for new HD stations and i would gladly pay extra then but until that time I think we pay enough money for the HD plus.

Oh BTW I'm not receiving Oasis HD anymore.

When this channel launched they said that it would be included in either HD education or HD plus, none if this only if you have the $16 HD plus crap. That is nonsense on Shaw's part here and I will be calling tomorrow to express my dissatisfaction regarding this.

While I agree that it's douchey for Shaw to not include it for those of grandfathered in, I don't think I'll miss it at all. Compared to Discovery and TLC it was utter crap. 3rd rate programs for sure. Did anyone here really watch Oasis?

What I would LOVE to see it MORE channels going a la carte. Scrap the packages and let me buy the channels I want. But that may be a discussion for another thread.

Availability:
Oasis HD was launched in early July with a free preview til the end of October. The channel was not removed right away but staggered over a couple weeks to slowly be removed to limit the call volume to the office. As of Nov. 17th all regions should have the free preview removed.
Pricing:
The Oasis HD channel is included in the following packages:
-part of the new HD plus package ($16/month) at no additional charge
-part of the HD Education package ($10/month) at no additional charge
It is also available as an HD pick and pay channel for $2.95/month.
**Please note the grandfather HD Plus package for $12/month does not get this channel as part of that package.**

The $12 HD Plus package was a grandfathered package/pricing and we do not expect channels to get added to this package in the future. The exception to this seems to have been the Sportsnet One channel which was recently added and we believe this was due to popular demand for this product as the programming was originally available on Sportnet HD but was split off when the new Sportsnet One channel launched.
