The NPD Group, which watches the United States market, has released its monthly sales charts for video game hardware and software for the month of January 2011 in the United States, with the overall industry seeing a drop in sales of 5 percent when compared to the same period of 2010.

Top 10 Highest Selling Games- Jan ’11:
1. Call of Duty: Black Ops (360, PS3, WII, NDS, PC) – Activision
2. Just Dance 2 (WII) – Ubisoft
3. Dead Space 2 (360, PS3, PC) – Electronic Arts
4. Little Big Planet 2 (PS3) – Sony
5. Zumba Fitness: Join the Party (WII, 360, PS3) – Majesco
6. NBA 2K11 (360, PS3, PSP, WII, PS2, PC) – Take-Two Interactive
7. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood (360, PS3) – Ubisoft
8. Dance Central (360) – MTV Games
9. Michael Jackson The Experience (WII, DS, PSP) – Ubisoft
10. DC Universe Online (PS3, PC) – Sony

I do believe there was a rule made stating that console sales numbers had to include territory to avoid the ****** flaming.
Ah OK, thanks.

And looking at the top selling games for January, it's great to see Dead Space 2 and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood so high. I'm loving ACB right now, so I'm taking my time and exploring everything in it before I go out and buy DS2. That'll be by May or June, and hopefully by then there will be a price drop.

Next month I fully expect NSMBW (and possibly Mario Kart Wii) to return to the chart.
