Well after putting up with the static for about 2 years in my Sennheiser 900 MHz cordless headphones I decided to experiment with the various "audio outs" on my TV, STB and receiver to see if I could isolate the noise or find a quieter out. Up to this point I had been use line-outs as I had volume control on the headset and it was my mistaken belief that one amplification is better than two. I found that all the line-outs gave me the same trouble ... static and hum.

I decided to try the headphone out jack on the receiver and low and behold crystal-clear sound. I turned up the receiver to a level that I normally watch movies at and then adjusted the headset to a comfortable level. All I can say is now I feel like I got my moneys worth. And it only took me 2 years to figure that out ... doh!
