Nintendo has announced they will launch the Nintendo DSi XL, a larger-sized version of their DSi handheld in North America on March 28th.

The primary benefit of the new DSi XL is a screen that measures 4.2 inches diagonally and has a surface area which Nintendo says is 93% larger than its predecessor.

The Nintendo DSi XL is the fourth version of the Nintendo DS handheld gaming console. The DSi was first released in Japan last November and will also be released in Europe next month.

The new handheld game console will sell for $190 in the U.S. will be available in burgundy or bronze, and include pre-loaded DSiWare titles, including Brain Age Express games, a photo clock, the DSi Web browser and animation app Flipnote Studio.

In addition, Nintendo announced a new cartridge application that turns the DSi into an e-book reader. The $20 application titled 100 Classic Books will include works from authors such as William Shakespeare and Mark Twain. Users will also be able to download additional content through Wi-Fi.

The device will sell for $189.99 U.S.
