Nintendo announced today it is dropping the price of its Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL video game systems in the United States by $20.
Starting September 12th, the Nintendo DSi system will sell in the U.S. for $149.99, down from $169.99. The Nintendo DSi XL system will be $169.99, down from $189.99. Pricing for the Nintendo DS Lite model will remain at a suggested retail price of $129.99.
Nintendo Canada has yet to announce price reductions in this country, however, a similar $20 price reduction is expected in this country which would bring down the price of a DSI and DSI XL system in Canada to $159.99 and $179.99 respectively.
Since its release in November of 2004, total Nintendo DS hardware family sales are more than 132 million units, making it the second best selling video game console overall, behind the PlayStation 2.
