I just got a DCT 6416 as part of Eastlink's free-for-6-months HD/DVR offer. Most channels look good, but the NFL Network looks as if it's extremely compressed...I mean, I could imagine getting a better picture with a rabbit ear antenna. The frustrating thing is, before I got HD, when I just had basic digital cable, it looked better (not great, but better). As it is now, it almost looks out of focus, the pixellation and ghosting around edges is so bad.

Does anyone else notice this? Is there anything I can do to improve the picture quality of this channel?

NFL Network is always horrible EastLink's 10 channels per QAM compression really looks bad. On shaw direct the picture is more palatable.

Only way to make it look better is to watch on a smaller tv ;)

Yeah I noticed ages back that the compression on NFL network is unbelievably bad. I never complained because it's not my cup of tea. But if I were a big football fan I'd be pretty annoyed by it. And I don't even have any big screens.

Thanks guys. So, I guess my next question is, would it be worth it to complain to Eastlink, or would it just be a waste of my time? :) There's a game I want to watch tomorrow on NFL Network, and I'm already wondering if I should watch it on my 52" HDTV and DVR system, or whether I should watch it on my 13" TV with analog coax cable coming into it. The fact I'm even considering such a thing is absolutely ridiculous in the year 2010.

NFL Network PQ

The NFL Network is poor in standard def on all carriers. Bell was just as bad as Eastlink. The funny thing is if you look at the on demand the PQ is often better. I used to live in the UK and the NFL networking programming on the main HD sports channel was first rate as it is if you see it in the US. We just need that the and NHL network in HD.

Well I'm glad im not the only person who noticed this

Old film that is outstretched to 16:9 looks alright but most of the studio shows and game highlights in HD look terrible because of all the compression, on Rogers atleast
