The NFL has reached 11-year extensions for the U.S. rights through the 2033 season. Fox, NBC, CBS and Disney (ABC/ESPN) will remain homes for weekly games. Beginning with the 2023 season, Amazon Prime Video gains exclusive U.S. rights to Thursday Night Football. Local TV stations in the two markets of the teams playing on Thursday will continue to simulcast the games.

One key detail for the companies shelling out enormous sums for NFL rights is that the league’s deal with the players enables it to add a 17th regular-season game to the schedule. This Deadline article has a summary of the various deals.

I saw that Bell Media issued a statement saying that the Canadian rights are negotiated separately and they will continue to be the Canadian home to the NFL. In other words, the Amazon deal is only for the U.S. rights.

The Amazon deal is only for the US rights... for now. Nothing is stopping Amazon from bidding for the Thursday night game in Canada when they are next available. In fact, it would make perfect sense.

Bell is going to have to pay through the nose if they want to keep what they have considering how much more Fox and co. just paid.

That said, as long as DAZN keeps every game and Red Zone, that's all most people should care about.

DAZN shares Red Zone with Bell as TSN offers it for free through their app. Amazon had international rights for the game that was exclusive to Prime this year so I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to get it for the Thursday night game. I don't think Bell will have to pay too much considering there isn't much competition for the rights. The only other possible bidder would be Rogers and with the money they're spending on hockey I doubt they will be spending big on the NFL. Only possible issue Bell would have is if Amazon or a web based service tries to go after some or all of the NFL package in Canada but the likelihood of them taking the entire thing is low. If Amazon gets Sunday Ticket, I can see them taking it away from DAZN in Canada though.
