ViewSonic today announced its new 19-inch LED Widescreen Monitor (model VX1932wm) which the company says uses just 15 watts of energy.

The company says the new Energy Star 5.0 compliant LCD monitor is mercury free and uses 50% less power than a traditional 19 inch monitor without compromising the viewing quality.

"We are proud to announce that our new VX1932wm-LED and VA705b LCD monitors meet the stringent Energy Star 5.0 requirements, helping to save our customers money on both monthly electricity bills and on product replacement costs." said Jeff Volpe, vice president and general manager of ViewSonic Americas.

Additional features include a slim-bezel design, built-in stereo speakers and a dynamic contrast ratio of 10,000,000:1. The VX1932wm-LED is currently available for $169 U.S.

The company also announced the ViewSonic VA705b, a 17" Energy Star 5.0 compliant LCD monitor with power consumption of 21W for $150.
