Rebel has not been able to make the move down to 101.7 because of "technical issues". I suspect because of a very strong signal that a US rock station puts out into Ottawa at 101.5 might be causing too much interference. They have changed format but just not the frequency for now.

CFNV 940AM - Montreal

According to Fagstein's blog, CFNV 940AM, a French news-talk radio will launch very soon.

The French ID translates to about that: "You’re listening to CFVN 940AM, new TTP Media’s talk-radio. If you notice a reception or interference problem of the radio signal, please contact us, toll free 1-855-732-5940. Thank you and stay tuned, the regular programmation of CFNV 940AM will start soon." There are other versions of this ID, but they all say about the same.

In Montreal, CITE-FM 107.3 now broadcasts CJAD-800 on HD2 and TSN-690 on HD3. That makes CITE the first Montreal station to broadcast in HD (not counting WVPS Burlington VT). CITE, CJAD and TSN are owned by Bell Media.

Sportsnet To Launch All Sports Radio in Vancouver

Sportsnet to launch Vancouver all-sports radio station this fall - Sportsnet.ca

VANCOUVER — One of Canada’s largest and most passionate sports markets is about to get a lot more premium sports content, as Sportsnet will launch a new, all-sports radio station – Sportsnet 650 – in Vancouver this fall.

Rogers Media will acquire the Vancouver AM station CISL subject to approval from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), and will change the station’s format to all-sports. The transaction is expected to close in summer 2017.

Rogers is acquiring CISL 650 in Vancouver from Newcap, and will be dropping its adult standards format for sports talk as Sportsnet 650. Rogers already stole the Vancouver Canucks and Blue Jays radio rights away from Bell for their next seasons, so I begin to wonder if CFTE even needs an overflow station anymore...

This will be its second ownership change in half a decade (thank you, Bell/Astral merger).

https://cartt.ca/article/byrnes-communications-buy-niagara-falls-fort-erie-radio-stations-vista-radio

CJED-FM (105.1 Niagara Falls, ON - currently "2Day FM") and CFLZ-FM (101.1 Fort Erie, ON - currently "Juice FM") have been sold by Vista Radio to Byrnes Communications. Sale price is listed at $800,000.

Byrnes currently operates CIHR-FM in Woodstock, ON "Heart FM" and plans to replicate the Adult Contemporary format in Niagara. The playlist to me of CIHR looks similar to CFLZ's current playlist. CJED currently plays more modern music under the Hot AC format.

I've been listening to the 2Day FM format since it launched - will miss the music mix if it goes to AC from the 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's and today. Too many of these stations already exist in this market.

Byrnes Communications has changed the formats of CJED-FM (105.1 Niagara Falls, ON) and CFLZ-FM (101.1 Fort Erie, ON) as of this morning.

CJED-FM is now back to "The River" AC format it used from 1997-2011. So far it has been playing a mix of songs from the 80's to today. Byrnes was promising an "exciting new format" but obviously just is recycling an old one that didn't work on CJED-FM.

CFLZ-FM is now called "More FM" - another AC format that so far is indistinguishable from what is being played on CJED, but with different bumpers. A long time Hot AC station from the 1990's to July 2016, this station is flipping formats constantly and very similar to many stations in the market now.
