Seems like a lot of people are displeased with the changes to Power 97. Hey at least they didn't make it into Hot 97, we have enough of those. I guess there wasn't much of a demand for hard rock in Winnipeg.

Another change in Winnipeg, Clear 102.3 is now Kiss 102.3, just a name change, just in time for Valentines. Because this is going to increase ratings.

Speaking of Vancouver, Sonic Radio in Vancouver were also rebranded as KiSS Radio a week ago. Jack FM 103.1 in Victoria followed the suit few day later to switch from Adult Hits to the CHR format and rename itself as KiSS 103.1.

Looks like CJLI "The Light"*is testing their transmitter at 700kHz AM here in Calgary. It's going to be a Christian station.

Wonder if this will prompt a change at 1140 AM.

TSN 1140 Calgary? I have a sense. But the only likely major coverage could come from QR77 moving Stamps. Sportsnet 960 The Fan covers Flames and the WHL team that I suspect may move. There is no Sunday afternoon live game coverage in CGY as 960 airs horrible CBS Sportsradio game highlights. All said CGY has to be TSN's next priority and 1140 is the last clear signal and is without major market content.

That would be pretty much impossible. First, that station is owned by Golden West Broadcasting - not Bell. More importantly though, that station broadcasts from High River, not Calgary.

GTA: 93.5 "The Move"

A very popular urban radio station in the GTA: CFXJ-FM recently changed format and name to 93.5 the move. The former name was Flow 93.5, was more of a hip hop and r&b format radio station, over the years changed ownership a handful of times. A lot of people were surprised with the sudden format and name change but they don't seem to remember that Bell Media was forced to divest it off to Newcap Radio to comply with CRTC ownership rules (they already own 2 stations in the GTA on the FM Dial (CHUM FM AND 99.9 Virgin) so there was no surprise to me by the name change and staffing changes. It usually happens all the time when an ownership change in companies occur. Anyways I like the new format, though I miss the old one, I understand that it was not profitable and the number one goal of a business is to make money for itself and its stakeholders so this is no surprise to me.
