Thom Hogan has mentioned a new Nikon (D-3100) and 4 lenses that are to be officially announced next week, with more announcements to come, including a "D-400".

Price 650 Euros. Also announced: 4 lenses.

Yes, it was officially announced today. It's essentially the same as a d3000 except it has a 14 MP cmos sensor instead of a 10 MP ccd, it does live view and it shoots video.

Wow, this is great news, I wonder what will the replacement D90 be a D95 with same pixels and same 1080p video with other improvements.

There was a previous release from Nikon this spring that they will be increasing all their newer dslr camera's for more resolution for the sake of a little less performance in the high iso noise area.

The 3100 seems like a great entry level camera with good features. This will just force the other companies to be equal or better in their new models.

Thom Hogan has some comments on the D-90 replacement on his current page. He says the release will be announced in Sept.
