Since we were eligible (finally!) for Ultimate, we had it installed yesterday. I assumed that it was because of the new 3801 gateway but that was not what changed. The 3800 was installed and the installer was surprised when I asked about it.

Anyways, my internet speed had a big improvement. I was getting roughly 2200/400 before.

The gateway was put by the TV, since there was no power by the incoming phone. And there was a new cat5 cable run from the gateway to TV #2.

Everything seems to be working well, but I was unable to add any HD packages last night. I guess there is some sort of limitation as to the number of changes that can be made in one day.

Ultimate vs Classic?

Hello Umbrau. I'm a newb but on the learn, i'm always trying to learn the best ways for all steps involved in a quality install.
So i wonder,.. what did cause you to now, be able to receive Ultimate ??? 3800 range hasn't changed, no new cabinets,... Odd. Maybe they brought you the 3800 simply by mistake & it worked??
If i understand your quest about changing packages... I think classic service customers can change channel packs online every 24hrs,.. but HD customers need to telephone request.(call in) ... other than that i do not know of limitations of That kind.

I'm not sure, but i'll be listening for mtsguy to explain things better.

Pæce.

I am an MTS HD/Ultimate customer and I can change my packages -even HD ones - online. I do it all the time.
I was able to update my channels by 10 AM the next morning. That wasn't a problem, but it would have been nice to set that up before hand.

I don't know that there weren't new cabinets. I suppose it is possible that they brought the 3800 by mistake, but I don't really know any way to find out.

Oh, and one thing I found last night. I was not getting 5.1 sound to my receiver. I needed to change the audio output mode to Surround Sound.

Usually you can call in once the installation is done and change your themes if you don't want to wait until the system updates to change them online. If you don't want to wait on hold, you could ask the installer to call in. There's usually less hold time compared to the regular customer service dept. :)
