I'm new to the htpc scene with limited knowledge.

Current setup:

xbox 360 as a media extender from my interim htpc ( laptop ). I bought a 32" 720p daytek with a NTSC only tuner. This tv is going to be connected to the xbox media extender.

I think I aNSWERED myself as I wrote this. I'm not and won't be using the 32" tv tuner at all if it's fed excluseively from the htpc. Right?

Yep.
If the only video input to the tv is the xbox, then you don't need the internal tv tuner.

Still, it would've been nice to get one with ATSC capability for the future, if you ever want it
