The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) said today that an iPad version of its popular NFB Films app is now available free of charge at the iTunes Store .

The NFB Films for iPad app has the same features as the NFB’s iPhone app but has been optimized to take advantage of the inherent qualities of the iPad.

The 1.9MB app lets you search and watch over a thousand NFB movies, documentaries, animated shorts and trailers, including some in 3D and HD streamed over Wi-Fi and 3G wireless networks. Users will also be able to download and store a film for up to 48 hours, for off-line viewing.

Other features include the ability to access a kids' channel with fun and educational content for children; browse films by channel/category; search for films by title; bookmark favourite films and browse related content while viewing a film thanks to split-screen technology.
