Deezer boasts 20 million users, 1.5 million paid subscribers, 15 million music tracks and a huge social media presence with 600,000 Facebook fans and 300,000 followers on Twitter.
“We are thrilled to launch Deezer in Canada, Australia and New Zealand and to play a key role in the music revolution," said Axel Dauchez, CEO of Deezer.
Dauchez adds: "This is a very exciting key turning point for Deezer following four years of extraordinary success inspired by passion for music."
The French company, which has partnerships with two thousand music labels including Universal, Warner, Sony and EMI, plans to launch its service in 200 countries in the coming year but will not compete in the expensive US or Japanese markets for now.
Deezer is a completely web-based solution, requiring no software download, meaning that you can access your music immediately wherever you are.
Users, who typically sign up for the service using their Facebook account, can expect to pay $4.99/month CAD for unlimited streaming on their PC or MAC or $9.99/month for the premium package, which enables service on mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, IP TVs & IP Sound Systems.
