In an email sent to its customers, MTS has announced it will update the Microsoft Mediaroom software that drives its MTS Ultimate Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) service, to Version 2.0 throughout the month of April.

In addition to a change in how the menu options are laid out on screen, new features include the ability to: pause live TV from any connected TV in the home; display the last 5 channels viewed by pressing the 'LAST' Button; and set Descriptive Video permanently as your primary audio source.

The upgrades will be rolled out throughout April and will take place between 1:00 am and 6:00 am. If your set-top box is on when then the download occurs, the upgrade will proceed automatically.

Customers still awake when the firmware is downloaded will receive a notification that the upgrade is about to start. At this point they will have the option of allowing the upgrade to begin immediately or they delay the upgrade for three hours. After three hours, the message will repeat itself.

During the upgrade, TV service and PVR functionality will be interrupted for about 20 minutes.
