Half of what you are paying is a definite yes. The issue is, retention is not what it used to be. Quotas get slashed and companies are ready to let customers go at higher rates than before, especially when it means slashing the bill in half.

My suggestion is to always be super polite, explain to them that a 50% discount even with all the extras is over $1000 for that year alone. You could cancel, switch, and switch back before end of year and put that money to good use like investment or vacation.

If someone offered me 1000$+ in exchange for 1-2 hours of calls tops and a day of waiting for the install, I'd take it but depends on how valuable it is relatively to you.
