There's been some talk of WP7 using upwards of 50MB of mobile data per day while idling, and MS is now saying they've identified the issue in one of their (assuming prebundled) apps.

It makes me wonder if Apples's tight control over apps isn't a necessary evil. I mean, if someone were to suffer this bug while roaming, it could cost a user thousands of dollars. I think mobile consumers need a "curated environment" to a certain extent.
Now, of course, their habit of limiting content (like a Playboy magazine app) is a totally different discussion, but i think there is an important middle ground here.
