I had a Rogers 8300 PVR that also had a Rogers extender on it
the PVR died yesterday and I bought a new one today 500gb
plugged in the extender and it asks me to reformat the new drive
this will erase the programs I have saved
I have a lot of programs I saved while I was away
ANY way to solve the problem so the new box will read the drive without wiping it clean:

No, it's not possible. The index was on the old PVR internal HDD. The recorded programmes are "tied" to the PVR they were recorded on, and the programmes recorded on the eHDD will not be playable on the new PVR since there's no index on the new PVR for the programming that was recorded onto the eHDD. Also because the programming was "tied" to the old PVR. Sorry, this question has been asked and discussed several times in the i/eHDD sticky threads.

Do you still have the old PVR? Often the only thing wrong is the iHDD fails and it could be replaced/cloned and you'd have this PVR operational with access to the programming if you cloned the internal drive, if the information on the iHDD is not corrupt (it could be corrupt, in which case the programming would be lost there too)
