Motorola Canada has announced the Motorola XT860 4G (known as the Droid 3 or Milestone 3 south of border) will be available from Bell Mobility later this summer.
Features of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread powered device include: dual-core 1GHz processor, 4.0-inch qHD touchscreen display (960×540 pixels), slide-out five-row QWERTY keyboard, and an 8-megapixel camera capable of recording 1080p HD video.
The device also has smart docking technology which changes device settings based on home, office, bedroom or car dock settings. For example, when a user connects his or her Motorola XT860 4G into a dock in the bedroom, the device automatically adjusts to pre-defined settings, such as a lower screen brightness, alarm clock and homescreen news updates. When moved from the bedroom dock to the car dock, Motorola XT860 4G can automatically display GPS navigation and stream a pre-selected morning radio program, giving users location specific settings.
As the model number indicates, the smartphone offers support for Bell's 4G HSDPA network. Rounding out the specs are Flash 10 suport, access to Google Mobile Services, 16GB internal storage, a front-facing VGA camera, and support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
South of the border, reviews for the Droid 3 have been lukewarm. For example, PC World gave the device three out of five stars. They liked the big keyboard and the fact that it shipped with Gingerbread but felt the Droid 3 had a poor camera and too much bloatware.
