Hi all. I'm new to the forum and I've been reading up and learning a bit already. I know it's a universal dislike for new members to create new threads but if searched high and low and can't seem to find the answer to one simple question:

Does the DCT6200 upconvert?

Yep it upconverts say 480i to 1080i if you wish and turn the 4:3 override to the appropriate setting for example.

Thanks 57. It appears you are THE guru of all things electronic.

I did read some of those topics. I had it set to 1080i but I opted to return to 480p as it seemed to be the best compromise.

Most SD channels look bad on my TV. (Hitachi 51F59 RPT, last of the Mohicans). FTR though, HD looks great!

For SD, I guess there's no point in upconverting from a less than stellar source...

The 6200s were not good at SD. Here's the SD FAQ:

You may wish to try 480i for the 4:3 override, or try connecting via composite or S-Video for long stretches of SD viewing.
