Upstart wireless provider Mobilicity today launched the "Student Plan," a new wireless offer which gives consumers in Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, Edmonton and Calgary unlimited local calling, unlimited local text and picture messaging, unlimited data, and caller ID for $25 a month.

Mobilicity also announced a second time limited wireless plans and some big reductions on popular Android phones such as the Nexus S adn HTC Panache.

In addition to the $25 student plan, the company announced the "Ultimate Unlimited Back-to-School Plan", which includes all of its $25 Student Plan features plus unlimited North American long distance, unlimited Canada/US text and picture messaging, unlimited global text messaging, voicemail, call waiting, call forwarding and 3-way calling – for $40 a month.

Despite the name, both plans are available to anyone including students.


In addition to the new plans, Mobilicity also said it was offering up $200 off selected wireless devices.

 

Devices which are reduced in price include:
  • HTC Panache - $300 formerly $500
  • Nexus S - $350 formerly $500
  • Sony Ericcson Xperia X10 - $400 formerly $500
  • Motorola Spice - $100 formerly $170
