Sony this week announced a deal with Major League Baseball's advanced media division that would allow subscribers in the United States and Canada to stream live baseball games to their Sony PlayStation 3 game console.

Features include the MLB scoreboard, home and away feeds, live HD PVR functionality, season archive, scrollable linescore that allows users to pick any half inning to watch and a favourite team calendar and schedule.

The application can be downloaded from "Media" category of the PlayStation store. Once installed, it can be launched it from the Video section of the XMB.

Existing subscribers will be able to access the service for free, which comes with what Sony described as several features tailored for the PS3.

MLB charges $25 a month for the service, or $120 a year for a premium subscription. The service lets Baseball fans watch all 2,430 regular season games live or on demand subject to local blackout rules.
