Sportsnet hasn't announced anything official yet, but I think that their contract may not allow for any to be on One, and if it does I'm almost certain it doesn't allow for many.

I like EJ better than anybody who works for Fox or ESPN. And he is certainly a million times better than their old lead guy, Chip Caray. I hoped that they would use Brian Anderson, but I understand that Johnson has worked for Turner for years.

Ernie Johnson is the host of TBSs NBA basketball show with Kenny (the Jet) Smith, Charles Barkely, sometimes Magic Johnson. It may be entertaining to some, but I find it somewhat tedious. There were three Carey brothers: Harry Carey, who died some years ago was the voice of the Chicago Cubs, Chip Carey (who I thought died just a few years ago) and then Chris (I think that's his name). He would be the youngest, and I always thought he was a very good announcer. Of all the names of the announcers listed in the OP, Dick Stockton is my favourite. His wife is a fairly good announcer too (Michelle Tofoya ?). ;)

The Carays were 3 generations. First there was Harry who called White Sox and Cubs games for years, before dying in 1998. Then there was his son Skip who called Braves games. He died in the summer of 2008. They were both very good commentators, two of the best ever.

But then there is Skip's son Chip, who had called Cubs games on WGN and then Braves games for TBS/Peachtree and MLB playoff games for TBS up until last year. He made so many mistakes during TBS's postseason coverage last year that they fired him. Now he only does regional Braves games on SportSouth.

I also completely disagree on Stockton. He is easily my least favourite. Orsillo is probably my favourite (although that may be a bit biased), followed by Anderson, EJ and Stockton. Stockton also makes far too many mistakes now.

Stockton is married to Lesley Visser. Considering that Stockton is around 70 years old and Tafoya is in her 40s, that would just be umm... odd.

I think what annoyrd me most about Skip's commentary (besides all the errors) is his fondness for yelling FISTED whenever a ball was blooped into the outfield for a hit

EJ's done a decent job from the limited number of peachtree games i've seen. He's a good guy though so ill give him the benefit of the doubt. Stockton needs to be dropped, he's terrible and is Vern Lundquist bad at his advanced age at this point.

So the 1pm and 4pm games arent on Canadian tv today at all?

Local SN's have garbage at 1 (darts and crap), SN one has more crap, then at 4pm SN regionals have NFL, and SNOne has Stage 7 of something then team tennis. Really?

Yes, because of NFL commitments there is only one game on Ontario and East and because of NFL and NHL commitments there are no games on West. All 3 games are on Pacific. Here is today's schedule

1:00pm, Tampa Bay Rays @ Texas Rangers (gm. 4) - Pacific
4:30pm, San Francisco Giants @ Atlanta Braves (gm. 3) - Pacific
8:00pm, Philadelphia Phillies @ Cincinnati Reds (gm. 3) - East, Ontario, Pacific

And tomorrow is
5:00pm, Philadelphia Phillies @ Cincinnati Reds (gm. 4) - East, Ontario, West, Pacific
8:30pm, San Francisco Giants @ Atlanta Braves (gm. 4) - East, Ontario, West

edit 4pm pacific is now showing a baseball game, but still no signs of the 1pm game.?

Its a mistake, Sportsnet just sent out a Tweet that the Rays-Rangers game will be on Pacific at 1pm.

Rays - Ranger feed went from being in HD at the start of the inning to not being in HD during the bottom half of the first.

Sportsnet has had quite a few weird quirks happen so far this post season. Like last night for example not sticking with coverage of the Yankees - Twins game after the RANGERS - RAYS game ended, instead leaving viewers to wait 10 minutes because of a brief edition of sportsnet connected.

Sportsnet is big on fitting Connected in. A 10 minute edition isn't as bad as what they have did in the past. During the regular season a 30 minute edition follows every Jays game, even if a live game is scheduled for West or Pacific. So if the Jays game ends at 10 ET and another game is scheduled for 10 ET, then the 2nd game of the doubleheader is joined in progress at 10:30 ET. Same thing if the Jays game goes until 11, the 2nd game is joined in progress at 11:30.

This also happened during the 2009 World Classic, as a result most games were joined in progress.

I put Sportsnet (Ontario and East) on a couple of times this afternoon but it's been all poker and magazine shows so I figured there was no baseball on yet. Then during the NFL game I had on they flashed the 5th inning score! Turns out it is only on Sportsnet West. The Poker Stars is supposed to be on West as it is on East and Ontario. I don't understand this. Something to do with 4pm NFL contractual obligations?

Anyone notice that Fox Buffalo didnt properly "frame" (or whatever the term is) the SD broadcast, and seeing as the Scoreboard, etc werent 4x3 safe, the score wasnt visible at all?

Sportsnet did it correct on their SD channel though.

(game 1 of the NLCS)
