Hi guys, have a question for you. One my one HD cable box, when I turn to channel 19, which is HGTV in Alberta, it states "channel will be available shortly", but never comes on. It happens with Discovery channel as well which is channel 32. I had called shaw and they say that these channles are on the same frequency and are not sure what the problem is. There are a few more channels that say this message as well. I changed my coaxial cable out, changed the splitter in the furnace room and still the same problem. All my other cable boxes in the house get these channels, so I tried changing out the box and still none of these channels at this certain location in the house. Don't know what else I can try to get these channels to work. Obviously it has something to do with the cabling at this location in the house, as all my other boxes in the house receives these channels. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

As you assume, it's a signal issue of some kind. Since you've swapped out a few pieces of Coax heading to that outlet and it didn't resolve the issue, I would suggest looking at any Splitters you might have on that one distribution line.

Typically on any 2way splitter you'll have two 3.5dB spigots on the one end. If you've got a 3way in there, you'll have two 3.5dB and a 7dB (this is the dB range that you lose off each split). You might have that outlet on a 7dB spigot which might be dropping the signal too much.

You may also have to many splits in general on the way to this outlet. If the rest of your outlets are working fine, try to make sure you're not running an extra splitter on this one outlet that isn't on the rest. If you are, and you have no other options, you might need a service tech to come set the levels in the house differently.
